As I mentioned in a previous blog, this started as an activity for two bored kids during summer break, but it ended up lasting through 7 years and a total of 9 hand-produced issues of 2 different magazines. When we got tired of writing about monsters, we switched to the military for one final issue.
Volume I was hand-written on some type of used, discarded copy paper. We glued the papers together and wrote on the back, using ballpoint pens and felt-tip markers in several different colors. One large sheet of construction paper folded in half made the cover.
Later issues were written on plain 8 1/2 x 11 paper with construction paper covers. After so many years, the construction paper is drying out, and it is difficult to scan, but I managed to get a few pages from each issue to illustrate what two bored kids can do – without video games or the internet.
