Nope. The end.

Resolution time again.  And since my resolutions last year turned out so well (not!), I figured I’d try it again this year.  I only have 2 this year, aside from the ones I never tell anybody.

1. Keep posting to the blog. It’s good for my mental health and it keeps me writing. Instead of doing a post every other week, however, I’ll commit to one at the beginning of each month, plus extras whenever something comes up.  I worry sometimes that eventually I’ll write all the surface stuff and then go deeper into the more serious stuff, but I guess you just have to go with it.

It makes me a sad puppy thinking about this, but it has to be done.  No, wait, I can’t be a sad puppy, that means something else entirely nowadays.  Fanfiction occupies the vast majority of my writing time – in fact, it occupies virtually all of my writing time – and while it’s fun, it’s not helping.  Nice coincidence that CBS and Paramount have just filed suit against Axanar, for making what amounts to a Star Trek fanfic-film.  It’s their property, after all, and no one else has the right to use it.  So all the work Axanar did is basically worthless.  The chances of any good (e.g., money, jobs, etc.) coming from fanfiction are slim to none.  It’s time to move someplace else.  Once I get back into the habit of writing original stories, perhaps my brain will be able to handle the occasional foray into someone else’s world.  But for now, it’s got to stop.

Besides, no “new” fanfiction doesn’t mean I can’t take the old stuff and rewrite it as original stories.  They’re nearly ready-made stories, if you think about it.  Just change a few details, put them in a new setting, and poof!  A story is (re) born.

Such a short post!  Seems like there should be more.  But enough is as good as…  yeah.  Keep up with blogging and write original fiction.  The end.

And the beginning.

Welcome to 2016.
